What Komra does with your data
Komra is a video editing tool. It holds your footage because it has to edit it, and this page says exactly what that means. Last updated 4 September 2026.
What we collect
- Your account. Name and email address, through our authentication provider. We never see or store a password.
- The media you bring. Video, audio and images you upload, or import from a connected service such as Google Drive.
- What we derive from it. Lower-resolution preview copies, poster frames, transcripts of speech, scene descriptions, and numerical representations (“embeddings”) that make footage searchable.
- Your work. Projects, timelines, every version of an edit, and the conversations you have with the assistant — including what you asked for and what it did.
- Basic usage. Page views and performance data, and operational logs that record errors and the actions taken on a project.
Why
To run the product you asked for: to store your footage, transcode it into something a browser can play, make it searchable, let an assistant edit it on your instruction, and render what you export. We do not sell your data, we do not serve advertising, and we do not share your footage with anyone except the processors listed below.
Who processes it
Komra is built on other people’s infrastructure, and your data passes through it. These are all of them:
- Cloudflare — traffic to komra.ai passes through it.
- WorkOS — sign-in and account identity.
- Amazon Web Services — hosting for the app itself, the database holding projects, timelines, edit history and conversations (Aurora PostgreSQL), storage for your media (S3), the queue and containers that process it, speech-to-text (Transcribe), and video understanding models run through Bedrock to produce descriptions and embeddings.
- Anthropic — the model behind the editing assistant. It receives your instructions and a description of your timeline in order to answer them.
- Services you connect yourself — Google Drive, Canva or LottieFiles, and only while connected. Disconnecting revokes our access.
Google Drive
If you connect Google Drive, Komra asks for the drive.file scope. That scope gives us access to only the files you individually choose in Google’s own file picker — not your Drive, not a folder, not anything you have not handed over. We cannot list, search or browse your Drive, and neither can the assistant.
When you select a file, we copy it into your Komra project and it is then treated exactly like a file you uploaded. We do not modify or delete anything in your Drive.
Komra’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular: we do not use Google user data to train generalised artificial intelligence or machine learning models, we do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and we transfer it only to the processors above and only to provide the import feature you asked for.
Your footage and AI models
Your media is sent to the model providers above so the product can transcribe, describe and search it, and so the assistant can edit it. It is sent to provide those features and for no other purpose. We do not use your footage, transcripts or conversations to train our own models, and we do not permit our providers to train theirs on it.
How long we keep it
Your media and projects are kept until you delete them or close your account. Deleting a project removes it and the derived data belonging to it. Operational logs are short-lived and are kept only to diagnose faults.
Your choices
- Disconnect any connected service at any time, from your profile.
- Delete a project, or ask us to delete your account and everything in it.
- Ask what we hold about you, and ask for a copy. Depending on where you live you may have a legal right to this; we will honour the request either way.
Security
Media is stored privately and served through short-lived links that expire. Credentials for services you connect are encrypted before they are stored. Access to production data is limited to the people who operate Komra.
Children
Komra is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we do with your data, we will say so here and update the date at the top.
